I haven't stopped in here in a while and I thought I would see how the rest of Michigan was riding.

A couple of weekends ago I took my old Suzuki for a haul down to Plainwell and then west to the lake and then north all the way to New Era. That's a bit of a hike on a 28yo bone stock 850...but then again I'm a sissy.

Anyway, I've worked a 60hr work week 5pm-5am every single day so I'm ready to put some more miles on the bike during my days off Monday and Tuesday. Matter of fact, I get out of work at 0500hrs Monday and I'm thinking I'll have breakfast somewhere a hundred miles away or so. Any suggestions on routes to take leaving Grand Rapids that will have me home by noon?

Take Leonard out to Grand Haven, then south on Lake Shore Drive to Holland, then back to GR on Chicago Dr.

Hey Seven,

Normally I'd suggest any route that takes you through the Gun Lake -Yankee Springs area. But right now there is alot of fresh pea stone on the roads over there. We rode through there yesterday and unless your real familiar with the area I would avoid it, the main routes have fresh stone and it looks like they are getting ready to put stone on M179. Of course its that time of year and fresh pea stone is going on all over the place.

We live in Vermontville and a favorite route for my wife and I is up to Alto for ice cream at the Caboose and then to Lowell and back east on M21. I've never ridden M21 into G.R. but east of Lowell to Muir is a nice ride, they repaved alot of it last summer. There was construction in Ionia as of a couple weeks ago, so we've been going southeast from Ionia to Lyons to Portland. There are some nice twisties on Charlotte Hwy from Portland to Mulliken.

Mulliken, Vermontville, Bellevue and Delton have fuel and places to stop for breakfast. M-43 from Delton to Hastings is back to normal after construction, I rode that yesterday down to Kalamazoo. I'll be riding different parts of that loop this week, I'll let you know if I see any sections to avoid.
