Definitely a possibility this evening...after the work week so far, I'm more than game. Plus I talked to a guy I work with who said he's going too. We shall see!

I may "drive" up too look around, I ain't put the bike back together. I need to get on the stick otherwise I can see the damm thing sitting all summer.

LoL Rider...yeah, I'd say the same thing if it was in Grand Rapids.

I'm feeling the same way about my Ninja, horrorbussiness. Got it running right now but I still need to change the tires and fix my coolant leak...stupid hose clamp / awkwardly placed hose! As much as I do enjoy the bike, I need to get it sorted and sold so I can pay my "Harley Tax" and stick whats left over into savings for next winter's project. ;-)

Their website doesn't really have a time, but I'd say any time after work until dark. Come up there, Mud. They need a few more sport bikes in the parking lot.

Let me see what I can map out.. I know there are good roads in that area so I wouldn't mind a pre-ride up to Boomer's to make it worth while.. I have at least 1 other bike coming with me maybe more.. What time are you thinking? Is around 6:30 good for you somewhere along the way?

Mudpuppy

How about we meet at Maple and Orchard Lake Road at Roosevelt's parking lot? If so then this is my proposed route to Boomer's:

6:30 you say? Should work for me as well. I've had to work over all week and I've already warned the scheduler at work that I am NOT doing it tomorrow. So getting out on time at 5 should give me plenty of time to run home and then get to 15 and Orchard Lake. It's a nice ride from there to Boomer's as well...especially around Orchard Lake. Count me in!

Mudpuppy
05-06-2010, 09:59 AM
Houston we have a problem - there is construction on Orchard Lake so this will not work. I was thinking about meeting at E Lake Drive and Pontiac Trail at the big bar on Walled Lake instead - 6:30 meet and roll out at 6:45.. go up through Milford to 59 and over to Boomer's. Let me know if that works for you.

Mudpuppy
05-06-2010, 11:28 AM
Ok I found the name of the place to make it easier - can't miss it - biggest place on Walled Lake and easy to find. It's called Bayside (I wasn't sure because the name had changed a few times, etc.):

Excellent.. sorry for the change but Headlight from Redline called last night and said dude DO NOT take Orchard Lake it's a big mistake - he works around there.. So instead of fighting construction I would rather make a change and get cussed out - but in this case I was able to make the change and everyone is happy..

RZ - you are more than welcome to lead the ride. I actually would love it if you did. I tend to lead a lot of rides for whatever reason - people must think I am smarter than I am or something? It would be a nice change of pace if you lead and I could just follow like a lost sheep. I will be shooting helmet cam and front or rear cam tonight depending on how I feel about the 2nd cam. Doing more testing of my video cameras for when I go back to the track. Checking angles, etc.

good ride for sure.. going to try and make boomer's more often and get some more of the sportbike variety to join us.. it was definitely an interesting camera test.. dead batteries so no video from bayside to boomer's.. which is too bad would have been good footage.. helmet mount too small so camera # 2 never made it out of my trunk.. then on the way home the camera launching for the second time and sketch making a grand recovery.. i viewed the footage last night and it's pretty dark but i will play around with it and post up some footage (especially the launching part).. and i found a good permanent mount spot so i will work on that and other mounts to get this camera thing right.. got some new batteries today too to stock up as i guess they don't last very long..

Thanks boys.. that is a very very rough prototype using rudimentary software (windows movie maker). By mid-winter next year with any luck I will have a full length feature to that effect including bike nights, track days, races, rides, etc.

And the online is very very slow - best to just download and watch on your computer. It's only 58mb so it probably shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes with standard cable or DSL. I would recommend the download really to get the full effect.

And all the corporations listed at the beginning are made up just for the helluva it.

In the future I will get better pictures of all involved so I can do a better job at the beginning showing all the different riders. This whole concept is still in the infantile stage so it's a learning process. I tried to be creative with it especially RZ, NG and Metroitguy since I didn't have any pictures of them.

Thanks Chris. Actually I did some previous work with Windows Movie Maker and I didn't know you could add audio, etc. The default shows up "storyboard" and you have to click time line to see you can add audio. Also there is an overlay option that I wasn't aware of. It has a few hidden features that I learned this time just playing around with it. It's good enough to do some sample shit like this but the full production will be done with much better software.

I played around with a Mac at the AT&T store last time I was there (was part of an iPhone display) and the software/interface in general just seemed much more user friendly than your average PC based stuff. Mac always has been the prefered choice for the graphic design/video industry according to a friend of mine who is "in the biz" I can definitely see why. Hell, it even trickles down to their PDAs/Smartphones. I've owned a few WindowsMobile based smartphones and an iPhone...no comparison, Apple has their shit together when it comes to user interfaces. I'd love to get a Mac, but I'm on a PC/Windows budget. ;-)

I love Mac's. We are looking at getting a Mini just to get started in the Mac world. We stopped in the Apple Store at 12 Oaks a year or so ago and ever since then we've been wanting one. I need a new computer BAD anyway. I'm just torn between building a new Windows 7 PC or buying a Mac Mini. What's nice about Macs is their operating system is awesome. It actually comes with iLife which is awesome compared to what comes with Windows. Like Windows still comes with "Paint". WTF can you do with Paint?!?! I won't even mention that the upgrade to the new Mac Os was $29 and I had to pay $150 to upgrade our pile of junk Vista.

RoadZombie
05-12-2010, 09:37 PM
I wasn't aware it was so affordable to upgrade the Mac OS. I hear ya on the Windows upgrade...$150 for buggy software. I did upgrade my desktop to Vista, but I ended up downgrading my laptop to XP after upgrading it to Vista. The desktop seems to handle it OK, but basically made my laptop as slow as a stone tablet and chisel. Hahaha! Paint...LMAO Doesn't get much more worthless than that!

I'm not at all familiar with Macs, but I've been around PC's since DOS 5.0. The few minutes at the Apple kiosk at AT&T definitely left me thouroghly impressed.

Yeah $29 must of been nice. LOL I upgraded our laptop from Vista to 7 and we really like it. MUCH faster and more stable. I hear ya on Vista and the laptop man. I took the laptop up north fishing so I could check email and I'd turn on the laptop in the cabin and by the time I got to the library (about 1/4 mile down the road) in the library and signed in the laptop was just about booted up. Took me longer to boot the thing than it did to check and reply to emails. With Window 7 it's much much faster. My desktop is too old though and I upgraded from xp to 7 and it crashed all of the time. I'm running Linux Mint on it right now though.

I was in the same boat. I knew nothing about Mac's, still really don't know much about them, but the 60 minutes my wife and I spent on one in the Apple Store had us sold. So much more user friendly and I can actually take it out of the box and edit movies and photos easily and nicely where Windows gives you Paint and Movie Maker. I use Movie Maker a lot but it's still old school and sort of cheesy.

i like windows 7 - i refuse to use vista.. right now using xp on all my computers.. i built my dad a windows 7 machine that runs great.. did you know windows 7 requires 2gb of ram to run properly and vista requires 4gb of ram? also windows 7 is vista but an improved version - much improved.. microsoft, because of the bad pr, just doesn't want you to know that.. but personally i don't mind xp - runs smooth for what i do... i have it on my desktop, laptop and netbook..

thanks for all the tips and i can feel the mac love.. i think macs are great just not in the market for a new pc and like the rest of apple's products i feel the price is way too high.. and seeing as the budget for my project is zero and i am already way over budget i can't justify a mac added to it.. i also need new tires and track fee money so no ahh ahh on a mac.. that is unless you mfrs want to pool all your extra cashish and fund a new mac for me along with some tires and a track day.. a new R1 would be nice too..

no you all must be contributors not recipients - this isn't like how our government runs things - as in 53% work and pay taxes and the other 47% milk the system.. this is 99.99999% contribute and me, 0.0000001% receives the benefit..

so how's boomer's looking for tonight? the forecast is shitty to all the way shitty.. anyone want to canoe over there?

I'll be there! I'll bring some arm floaties just in case I hit a deep puddle :D

As for the Mac, they do make a good OS, but their software selection is garbage. If you're running Adobe, you're golden. Anything else, good luck! Their hardware is also kinda overpriced and crappy. My girl went Mac after her old PC died. She's lucky she bought Applecare. It's been back to the genius bar at least 8 times. Several battery failures, the RAM wouldn't seat, and kept FALLING OUT, the hard drive's shock sensor failed, causing the computer to turn off at random, the screen failed, and it runs REALLY hot. On top of all that, her apps hang and crash allll the time. Can't expect much from an OS who mentions a huge upgrade to Snow Leopard features "More reliable disc eject". MS may still come with Paint, but OSX only comes with iPhoto, lol. If you're gonna get a new computer, go with a Windows 7 PC. Paint has a 10x improvement in 7, lol.

yeah i agree the apple products are way over priced and totally unreliable.. best technology - yes, best products - no unless you solely base it on technology.. i know lots of people with issues with apple products.. my issue is totally the prices..

You're a bit too happy about Obama. I was actually being sarcastic ;-) I wouldn't so much as piss on the man if he was on fire.

I'm pretty much with ya MP. They're all lying, cheating, heartless pieces of shit...Wait a minute, when did I start talking about my ex's? Ha! Until I meet a poor politician, I'm sticking to my teenaged punk rock fueled anarchist based beliefs.

My guidence counselor once told me, "Son, you have no respect for authority"...which my reply was "Authority alone does not warrant respect. Respect is earned by the individual, not given blindly to a position of power." ...he just kind of gave me a blank stare for a moment and then changed the topic. Must have really sucked that an underacheiving kid with blue hair just schooled his ass.

I do believe that if the government actually read, followed, and governed by the Constitution we'd all be a lot better off. Instead, they loop-hole their way through the damned thing almost to the point of using it as a piece of toilet paper. "Politician" shouldn't be a "full-time job". Although, same could be said for most of the "high seats" within a corporate setting. Honestly, do you really need to have meetings about meetings and commitees to form other comitees?

Yep I am with you.. That is why I like Zeitgeist and the Venus Project so much.. it makes perfect sense.. And yes the meeting part drives me crazy.. I avoid meetings at work at all costs.. they are a waste of time - call me or shoot me an email.. Better to shoot me an email with some info then call me..

This profit driven world of profit and greed we live in will never work.. Resource based economy is the only way to go.. But people are so ingrained in this system they think something that sucks is actually good - the "american" dream - more like a nightmare.. Not ONE individual on this earth shouldn't have their basic needs met or have to live like a dog.. There is no excuse for it..

Ok let's go to Boomer's..
