We need some moderators, Bob. Too much BS in certain threads about nothing in particular. Threads being Highjacked etc. Need to clean it up some. Members are growing, but nobody is staying and posting anyone wonder why?

I disagree, we are a small group and I feel we can police ourselves. Yes some threads get jacked but it does not bother me all that much. JMO.

I've heard from a lot of the people that sign up and never post or do not post much that it's because of all the b.s. and I've been asked to clean up some threads lately that have gotten way off topic. I've been thinking of it and will start to clean some of the threads up. I'm just going to delete some of the junk I see that strays too far off topic. It sucks for the rider asking a question and then 3 pages into it it's not answered and we got post of hal naked women for no reason. Those are for sure going to start to get cleaned up.

I'm thinking of a pay forums where anything goes. I've seen this on a few other sites and talked to their owners and it seems to work out nice for them. Keeps the regular forums clean and allows the people that feel they must post non-related pics and stuff a place to do so. They say everyone complains about it at first but then loves the idea down the road. I'm still up in the air yet though.

where is the B.S.? please show the B.S. not to start shit here but people that don't post have no say in my book, but i have no say. i will agree the thread jacking does get a bit deep but you also learn stuff about the people that way and just let it be known YOU would like it to stop.

as for boobies... well put a NWS in the title so they know it's for grow folk LOL.

i still like the part about people that don't post complaining LOL. people that don't post much just don't have much to say, thats all.

i like the layed back friendly atmosphere around here.

and another thing, can you stop all the HD and V-twin topic's? i'm not a fan of them at all. can you stop all the bolt on topic's? i'm not a fan of those either. but the boobies can stay LOL

1. Respect all others at all times. This is the most important rule in my eyes.
2. No porn. Simple as that.
3. No commercial advertising unless approved by the site admins.
4. No post whoring please. Your post count means nothing so don't post just to get your post count numbers up.
5. Do not use the 2WheelMichigan.com logo without permission from the site admins.
6. The rules can, and will, change as we see fit.* :P
7. Please do your best to keep profanity down to a minimum.* I'm not a censoring freak or anything but profanity on a site can make it rank lower in the search engines.
8. Please, no political or religious discussion.* These two topics usually end up doing nothing but hurting the forums so lets all leave the political and religious talk at the door and just have fun.

If you're going to enforce one, then enforce them all. Not right to pick and choose.

Threads are always going to get waylaid, it happens. Unless it's egregious then what's the harm? It is always in good fun, I've never seen a thread jacked in a mean spirited way.

Road Zombie: Boobies are not always the answer. Bacon is the answer.

I have been on TONS of forums. Started forums, ran forums, moderated forums, admined them, created them, etc... from small to huge international.

Topics get off the beat, it just happens. I don't think its a big deal. As said, it happens and its how people get to know each other. Big moderation will just push people back into the corner. If you want people to get along, click, and make this a family of 2 wheeled passion. best to let things just blossom without too much weeding or pruning.

As far as boobs... a nice "alley" section may be good for that. Just understand that its a huge bandwidth sucker. Otherwise, keep it Victoria Secret clean (no nips or beaver). plus a NWS or NSFW in the title. Easy!

Oh and bob... you shouldn't delete post/threads. You should create a mod/admin only see forum aka trashcan, you move them there. Its not only record keeping but also doesn't effect the members post count. I'm not worried about mine, but you may have a noob with 5 posts... you remove them and he's back at zero and no longer even in the members list.

Quoted for truth. Nazi moderation isn't the way to go. It usually does far more harm than good.

Tele...how could have I ever forgot about bacon?! Its so awesome that it's used as a condiment for other meat.

But I have been on many sites of different styles.

From super moderation
to no moderation

The worse is the sites that try to walk between the 2. The pick n choose moderation.

At the end of the day, we (the people that make the forum) and Bob (the owner) will never make everybody happy.

I don't think overkill moderation is needed, but some is.

The thing is is I want this to have a feel of a family site, for everyone. When we post half naked pics every post just to post them it's going to send a lot of people packing. I get complaints on it daily.

Seems like more and more Adults are "discovering" message boards... Most people are looking for information and help because they can no longer afford to pay other people to fix there shit so they have to figure out how to do it on there own... this is just my opinion and this is what brought me to this site and other bike sites...

I've created and moderated many gaming related board for 10+ years and for me it's easier to deal with cocky, whiny teenagers than adults... Adults tend to have "thinner skins", they can dish out the BS but give them some back and they go crying to the mods...

It's not just on forums. I'm in a leadership role at work...sometimes I'm not sure if I'm overseeing adults or if I'm a caretaker at Romper Room.

I also should mention that if any of you see a post you think needs moderated all you need to do it hit the little http://www.detailingforums.com/forums/images/detailing/buttons/report.gif button and report the post. It'll let me know about it so I can take a look. This would help me out a ton!

And if something gets way off topic and the OP asks me to clean it up, please don't get mad if the OT stuff is removed.

Ok guys....I get it. You don't want to see the skinny chick on the beach anymore.lol
Seriously though we should clean up our language if we want to help this forum grow. It does affect the search engine rankings. A perfectly good how to thread might not get indexed due to 1 f word.

You are correct. I don't want to sensor words but I know people that can not get their site ranked well and can not get google ads because of the language. I don't think we are too bad though....yet. LOL
