I am considering doing away with the backrest on my bike. I did some very bad photo editing tonight with a couple pictures to try and get an idea of what it might look like. I think I am going to go ahead with it. If I am not happy, it will be an easy switch back.

What do you guys think.

I like it both ways. But it's probably just a simple bolt on or off right? So if you want it back on it probably will only take a few minutes?

Definitely looks better without, but I'm a bagger fan. Check J&P Cycle for quick disconnect kits. If I'm solo the rest is off, it only goes on for a passenger.

Well, the backrest bolts onto the bracket that the saddle bags bolt to. If I just remove the backrest, I would be left with 2 stubs sticking up (the rest bolts to the stubs).

I will have to make up 2 new brackets that dont have the stubs on them.

To make the switch I have to unbolt the original brackets and then remove the bags from those brackets. Install the bags on the new brackets and then bolt them on the bike. Probably a 20 or 30 minute job to switch one way or the other. Not really a big deal. Personally, I like the looks minus the backrest.

Much better without, JMO.
