Ok so its really Fat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrove_Tuesday#Fat_Tuesday) Tuesday.

Well I'm not sure about your town but Detoilet has a seperate section for many cultures. Hamtramck (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamtramck,_Michigan) is a city inside a city. Its most noteably known for the Polish segment of its population (more so in the past).

So I had an appt in Hamtramck at 8am so I left early. Took a tour thru some real Detoilet shit hole.... stopped at one of the bakeries, where I stood in line, in the snow for 45mins....

Scored 2 dozen authentic Paczki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C4%85czki)for $27.

1 dozen for the house and the other for my wife's work.

YUM!!

Each one is about 2,000,000 calories....

We're going to my daughter's house for Fat Tuesday pancake supper. If she follows tradition there'll be a pancake with a small piece of (clean) rag inside. Whoever gets it has good luck for a year.

There will be Paczki.

Afterwards me and my son are going to see the new Wolfman. Half price night at Showcase Cinemas.

Both my parents were born and raised in Hamtramck, I remember as a kid my dad waking us up at 4:00 am to drive up there and get in line to get the freshest ones. We never had a problem with it though, we got to skip school that day and get all sugared up on the way home.

Never got into the whole paczki thing. Not much for sweets...not polish...and an atheist, so for me it's just another day. If there was a Filet Mingon day though, I'd be on that like flies on shit.

"pączekon"?

Should we be calling you Mudpuppyski?

Should be "pączek" - for some reason the space bar didn't work. Pączek is the singular form of paczki.

Actually I am not a ski, I am a vich, its debatable whether my family came over from Russia or Poland in 1907. So you can call me whatever you like.

Well, there's no doubt you're a son-of-a-vich.

We say 'punchki' for plural and 'puncheck' for singular.

Both of those are spelled phonetically. No idea how to spell it in vich.

the true test is to put a bowl of charnina and a slice of bread with bear fat in front of someone.. if they go for the soup they are polish, if they go for the bear fat they are russian.. trouble with me is i don't like either.. but i do like to duck hunt..
