tHERE IS A BIG INFLUX OF TRIKES ON THE ROAD. i PERSONALLY CAN'T STAND THEM. tHERE ARE ONLY A HAND FULL OF THEM THAT i EVEN WANT TO LOOK AT.

i SAT ON A NEW hd flhxxx AT THE DEALER. iTS JUST WIERD AND DUMB. i WASKED THE SALESPERSON WHAT AND WHY ARE THEY SO POPULAR. sIMPLY SAID, THERE IS A SEGMENT OF RIDERS (SAY 45+) THAT ACTUALLY THINK THEY ARE COOL CAUSE THEY ARE DIFFERENT.

wHILE US AS BIKERS CONSIDER BEING DIFFERENT AS A POSTIVE i PERSONALLY DON'T WHEN IT COMES TO THIS.

wHEN DOES IT STOP? wHEN IS IT NO LONGER RIDING AND MORE SO YOU'RE IN A CAR? aUTOMATIC TRANS? STEERING WHEEL? wHAT?

noW PLEASE UNDERSTAND, i'M NOT HEARTLESS. tHERE ARE SOME VALID REASONS FOR A TRIKE. tWO OF THEM.

1. yOU'RE OLD ENOUGH TO DRAW SOCIAL SECURITY. aT WHICH POINT YOU'RE LEGS AREN'T WHAT THEY USE TO BE, BUT YOUR MIND AND HEART ARE STILL THAT OF A 20 YR OLD. yOU STILL WANT TO RIDE OVER YOUR FAMILY AND DOCS WISHES. f'EM!

2. yOU'RE HANDICAPPED IN SOME WAY THAT YOU CAN'T SIMPLY HOLD UP A 2 WHEELED STANDARD BIKE. mY UNCLE IS THIS WAY. pARALYZED FROM THE WAIST DOWN. i EVEN HELPED HIM TRIKE OUT HIS SPORTY.

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/other%20bikes/KevinTrike2a.jpg

nOW NEITHER OF THE ABOVE IS AN EXCUSE FOR A 30 OR 40 YR OLD PERSON TO GET A TRIKE JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE COOL OR JUST BECAUSE ITS EASIER. DAMMIT, YOU AREN'T PHYSICALLY REQUIRED TO HAVE ONE. i YOU'RE TOO DAMN LAZY TO HOLD UP A 2 WHEELED BIKE THEN PERHAPS YOU SHOULD DRIVE A MINI VAN. yOU'RE NOT A BIKER, AND THEREFOR DON'T CALL YOURSELF ONE.

Now you ask yourself, why did I type that way. Cause these trike owners are miss wired and do things oppposite of the norm. It is more fitting. Opposite caps. Hell, it will also fool with Tele's old eyes! :D

So that is my $0.02.

What's yours?

Is it really any different than a bike with a sidecar? If that's what a guy wants to ride, who am I to say it's not really riding? Is it because he doesn't have to hold it up at a stoplight?

Sure there are legitimate reasons for some people to ride them, your uncle is a good example. But on the other hand, why should anyone have to justify their choice? If a guy thinks it's cool to ride one, why is it any different than a guy who rides a crotch rocket because he thinks it's cool, or a bobber, or (since you picked on me) an Ultra? ;)

If we draw a line on trikes, what about you guys with your full dashboards and radios? Isn't that more like a car than a trike?

I look at it this way: If someone chooses to ride a trike, a bike, a bike with a sidecar, a scooter, a moped, or even one of the Can-Am things, it's just

ONE LESS FUCKING CAR ON THE ROAD

so I'm ok with it.

Same reason I like Smart Cars. I'd never own one, but I wish everyone else did....

I'm cool with it. I saw a TON of tricked out trikes at Biketoberfest in 2008. It was weird because I read an article in a magazine on the flight down and they predicted trikes where the next custom craze. Never seen anything really custom around here but got to Daytona and saw a ton of sweet trikes. I'm not to found of the Stallion things though. They are like a trike with a Ford dash and steering wheel. I see 2 around Downriver a lot.

So is the Stallion still a bike?

I guess it'd be considered a trike but I think once you add a steering wheel it's more of a small 3 wheeled car than anything.

So a steering wheel makes it a non-bike? I mean just look at the cockpit in those things. No way that is a bike!!

How about the fact that they have 7 cubic feet of trunk space? I for one... think that as soon as you add that trunk at the bottom... BUZZ... you're out.

Here's the HD SG XXX right at the York assembly plant. And just like I said... a guy in that age bracket, trying it on.

But I freely admit that, in general, I'm less than excited about them. If you couldn't tell.

Tele... you meantioned side car. Ready for this... LOL Contridic myself... I think they are funny and usefull. If they weren't $10k for the HD bolt on. I would so get one to haul my dog! LOLOLOLOL

Once you got the knees tucked in... it was comfortable

I'm kidding... I wouldn't get one. Probably. LOL But even if someone bolted one on. Its for function not form. It doesn't look cool. Further, its a sidecar. Its REMOVABLE in about 20 mins.

I already mentioned the Can Am. Like I said, one less car on the road.

Gas, maybe that guy on the trike is an ex-meter maid, just trying to relive the glory days!

Look out Gas - Crazy Neighbor Guy might come looking for ya

I don't personally like the trikes, I think they have all the disadvantages of a motorcycle but none of the advantages of being able to get out of trouble...

...but to each their own, I saw a AIH Texas Chopper trike that looked pretty sharp even though I wouldn't want one.

I even think the Can Am would be a helluvalot of fun, especially with the traction control disabled... which they can do :p

I survived but the bike didn`t . I`ve just been recovering... I still hurt a bit . I plan on getting a new bike this spring after snowmobile season is through . I havent been in here much due to the fact that I missed riding so much and didn`t want to add to the withdraw symptoms lol

Rode one of those Can-Am bikes. Local dealer had 2 from the factory a couple years back for demonstrations. Know the dealer well and he let me take it for the afternoon. I must say it was a blast and without the traction control you can smoke that fatty up big time. 0-90mph in a heartbeat. Wouldn't buy one but it sure as hell was fun!:D

We met this guy at our camp ground where we rented cabins for OBW. WOW.... even as scary as his looks are, they have nothing on how he was. WOW
