Those are a big hit still. I almost didn't take this thing. Got it all cut up right now and it's a puzzle from hell for sure. Hope I remember how it all goes back together next week after a few days of snowmobiling and a lotta of drinking.

Gas Man
12-26-2009, 11:40 PM
Yeah I should. We did that autism ride. The mix of bikes I thought was great. We need to think up some stuff for sure.

So are your seats just new style soft tail seats or do you do chopper stuff?
I didn't see any traditional seat work on your page.

Gas Man
12-29-2009, 09:02 AM
What do you mean chopper stuff? His primary seats are off choppers. Do you mean like hand tooling? You mean making seat pans?

seatmaker
12-30-2009, 07:18 PM
Anything but the hand tooled stuff, too old to teach this dog a new trick.:D

Gas Man
12-31-2009, 12:51 AM
You still send hand tooled guys to NJ?

Nice ride, I'm curious to see whats next for the seat as well...

seatmaker
07-06-2012, 09:28 AM
Well I have some nice Pearl white simulated Gator to maybe use in the center panels but thinking that may be too much. Just leaving it alone for now.

Mudpuppy

On long(er) trips my seat is very uncomfortable. I was considering something like a Corbin to put on for street use and use the stock seat for the track. Just for the ability to get on and off the seat in turns. Do you have anything that might be the best of both worlds so I wouldn't have to switch and trade off performance for comfort or any recommendations?

Gas Man
07-06-2012, 01:25 PM
Looks great Seat!!

Mud, he could do some gel insert.

Mudpuppy
07-06-2012, 03:45 PM
Gel insert. So then probably still could get on and off the seat pretty easy but would add some level of comfort? Is that the idear? I am interested for sure. Long trips destroy me - right on the inner thighs mostly. I just bought a crampbuster to solve the numb hand issue. We shall see how that works.

Gas Man
07-06-2012, 04:56 PM
He actually carves out the inner seat and puts gel in there. Suppose to help allot.

Mudpuppy
07-06-2012, 05:26 PM
so basically it would be the stock thickness, etc.?

Gas Man
07-07-2012, 01:45 AM
Yep.

Mudpuppy
07-09-2012, 09:57 AM
well then I reckon I just need a cost from him and how to get it done and then winter time I will have him do it - already had enough down time during riding season doing all the other work.

Gas Man
07-09-2012, 12:59 PM
Right, but he usually does it in about a week turn around (including shipping). Just need to contact him...

Mudpuppy
07-25-2012, 10:55 AM
someone told me that the gel will burn your ass in the summer - any problems with that or can anyone comment?

Chain
07-25-2012, 01:04 PM
Hmmm.... NEVER heard that... What do you mean, like absorb heat and literally burn your derriere? or just make you HOT....
I have gel in mine and never had my rear on fire...

Gas Man
07-25-2012, 02:29 PM
Sounds like an indian food problem.

Mudpuppy
07-25-2012, 03:09 PM
What I mean is in the summer time when it is hot and sunny the seat (usually black) asborbs the sunlight and heats up the gel to the point of burning your arse.. that is what I was told. But maybe it is a different kind of gel?

Chain
07-25-2012, 03:33 PM
Nope... your right about that... but I just thought it was cause she was black... NO wonder why it looked like I pee'd my self after riding thru Virginia... I got a sheep skin for longer rides... to deter that shit!

Gas Man
07-25-2012, 08:59 PM
Mud, post your question in seatmakers forum section... as a vendor he'll get an email.

seatmaker
07-25-2012, 09:37 PM
Never felt the heat you're talking about on my dog . Gel's under about 5mm of topper pad. I feel the vinyl on my Ultra gets alot hotter than the gel seat. May also be because the Ultra is vinyl vs leather on the Dog.

Mudpuppy
07-26-2012, 11:10 AM
so really this person could have been burned from the actual seat material and really nothing to do with the gel? I believe that could be possible. The way they described it was the gel boiled and caused the burn.

alhall88
07-29-2012, 08:08 AM
I can attest to the gel, they are called hotspots and seems they bother some people but not others. I had problems so I switched to the dry polymer type material.

Gas Man
07-29-2012, 10:28 AM
Seat, you do the dry poly?

Mudpuppy
07-30-2012, 09:59 AM
or I am thinking you could always put some kind of cover over the seat with an ice pack to keep it cool and out of direct sunlight.. that would be something i would do at the track because the bike is out in the hot sun all day..
