Not that way you bunch of homos.

On your baggers or cruisers. Which bag type do your prefer? Hard/fiberglass saddle bags or soft leather saddlebags? Or some of those firm type leather look bags like they put on the factory stock Road Kings?

It depends on the bike to me. I think the HD's looks best with painted fiberglass but some bikes look goofy with them.

I'm with Bob. Some bikes really need the color coded hard shells to look right, some look better with soft leather. Fer instance, a Softail Classic wouldn't look right (to me) with hard bags.

As for the leather covered hard bags, each to his own. I'm not a fan, and it was a deciding factor in getting the Road King Standard over the Classic.

The nice thing about the leather covered bags on the R/K is that when full you can keep stuffing them. They hold a lot more than the hard bags.

Another nice thing about the leather covered hardbags is that you can get the heel marks off from your boots pretty easily. I know when I had my painted bags I was forever trying to rub out my heel marks. It just seemed after long rides my foot felt real heavy and I could never pick it up high enough to clear.

1 nice thing about soft bags is they expand a little.
1 nice thing about hard bags is there lockable.
i have and use both LOL

I will be installing this in the spring. Seems like a pretty straight forward installation.

Oh, I thought of something...no fringes! My Drifter had nice leather saddle bags when I bought it but they had leather fringes and I cut them all off. haha

None of that matters, I like the look of the hard bags. If I need more space I'll toss a tour pack on via quick disconnect.

One of my goals is to get a batwing fairing and tour pack for the FLHR so I can have it my way. There are aftermarket fairings that use the same mount points as the QD winshield, you swap out the rubber grommets for SS. It's a matter of loosening four acorn nuts to go nothing>windshield>fairing, about 5 minutes. Add a rear QD kit for the tour pack and I can go from bagger to dresser real fast.

Sounds good Tele.

Yeah like Don linked. They make soft bags that are stiff and will lock.

Depends on the bike. I have semi-rigid (molded leather w/ plastic backs) on my Deuce and have seen hard bags on a Deuce as well...in that case, soft/semi-rigid for sure! Hard bags just look out of place. Kind of how a Street Glide would look pretty goofy with soft bags. It all depends on the bike. In all honesty though, I'm not really a huge fan of bags on my Deuce. I usually have a sissybar bag I strap on mine if I need storage, otherwise she runs "nude".

I like the look of the soft bags. Looks a little more rough, ya know?

My appologies to all the black-eyed Mexican babies...and all the ones in the future too. Sucks to be you, but I'm alright.

Hard, Leather bags look dated. Too much fringe and studs on most of them.

I like the Hardbags for the sturdiness. The right set looks good on the right bike. Howeve hardbag on a vintage bike just take away from it unless you have vintage hardbags to go with them. An indian with the tan leather bags is the tits. I bought my hardbags and a month later Cobra came out with the same set Leather wrapped and studded. Pissed me off.
